I spent some well-needed time away from the city to recharge. Some friends decided to rent a cottage in Calabogie, Ontario—a 4 hour drive from Toronto. We made the drive up Friday evening and stayed until Monday morning, since it was Civic Holiday and thus a long weekend here in Ontario (thankfully). Unfortunately, the weather ended up being not-so-great and I ended up spending a lot of time indoors buried in my book (American Gods by Neil Gaiman—highly recommended and also the TV adaptation, which is where I first discovered the title).
I wish I had more photos to show from this mini getaway, but it also felt good to just enjoy the moment instead of viewing it through a lens (per the usual). Since I only have the opportunity to shoot during weekends, it always feels like there's this mad rush to "get enough content" for the following week. Since the weather wasn't being kind anyways, it was almost a nice mini detox from this usual routine (though evidenced by the existence of this post, not a full detox).
Of course, as Lady Luck would always have the last laugh, the weather cleared up the morning we left.
