As we're nearing the end of July,

I'm realizing the depressing thought that summer in Toronto is almost at an end. With this sombre realization, I'm taking full advantage of the remaining (two...?) months of sunshine by wearing as many summer dresses as I can.

Although my usual dress of choice is an easy slip dress, gingham has been on my mind as of late. Borrowed from the boys, or picnic blankets, gingham feels like the vertical stripes of this summer.

Although July is ending, it was definitely a month of new favourites. A pattern that's both loud but subtle at the same time, I didn't feel the need to pair this Poshsquare dress with anything else besides a few simple (and aforementioned new favourites) accessories:

  • These Loeffler Randall Bo Sandals were a love-at-first-sight and go with practically everything in my closet. The pom-pom is a whimsical little detail that I absolutely love. It even makes the inconvenience of tying them and sometimes retying them worth it
  • The Chloe Faye needs no introduction and is a very recent addition to my closet. It's surprisingly heavy but I love it nonetheless—I'll be sure to do a more in-depth blog post review on it later

Admittedly, pattern is not prominent in my typical closet but I find myself frequently reaching for this dress when I don't know what to wear. Throwing on a blazer and a pair of closed-toe heels make it easily work appropriate for my usual weekday. If you're not ready to take the plunge into head-to-toe gingham, a shirt with plain trousers or shorts is a great alternative. I've rounded up some of my favourite gingham pieces below—hopefully something might catch your eye.
